Yes, it’s summer. And it really is – it’s dry (at the moment), it’s warm and the sun is shining. And a week today, on Tuesday 16 July, the Harlech Craft Fair summer pop-up opens in the Old Library.
We’ve had a lot of enquiries, because it’s been a challenging year for some of our regular craftspeople. And, yes, we’re here!
Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday,
from Tuesday 16 July until Saturday 25 August
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
We have been determined to open this year despite the difficulties because we love it and enjoy the experience. Over the past ten years the pop-up in the Old Library has been well received, very popular with both locals and visitors – and we’re looking forward to seeing our regulars and meeting lots of new people this year too.
So, what will you find when you walk through the door? Jewellery, felting, weaving, painting, sewing – items ranging from cushions and storage baskets to pencil and glasses cases – in an equally wide range of fabric (from tweed to oilcloth), stained glass, knitting, spinning…
Come in and meet the makers, who will be doing what they do while the pop-up is open.
That’s just a selection.
And it’s not just us.
The whole area is full of talented professional craftspeople, so keep your eyes open. In Harlech itself there are Snowdonia Soap – almost next door to the Old Library – and Wilderness, opposite the castle, who will be promoting local craftspeople over the summer as well. There are also some prints and felted pictures in Case Du Designs, the fabric shop on the High Street. Over in Porthmadog, you’ll find Glosters and their fantastic pottery – that couldn’t be more locally produced: the studio is over the shop – as well as Crafts North Wales, and others.
Happy Summer!
