Harlech is probably best known for its impressive castle (built to suppress the Welsh, mind you, and which later went on to withstand the longest siege ever in the British Isles),
and for a certain song commemorating that siege, possibly best heard at the Millennium Stadium, and well known from its use in the classic film Zulu. (‘Men of Harlech’, in case you were wondering.)
But it’s more than that. It’s a delightful small town with shops, restaurants and cafés,
with a truly astonishing and frequently sparsely populated beach,
and some fantastic walking in the hills of southern Snowdonia just behind the town:
And, of course, a thriving artistic community!
